Join AFH this Friday for the kick-off meeting of the new Coleman Oval Skatepark project.
Located under the Manhattan Bridge, the site is a small park empty except for a few planters and trees. The space is adjacent to a Nike-Sponsored skate-park and currently has no function within the overall scheme of the park.
Our goal will be to activate the space with temporary - and maybe even permanent - interventions.
If you are interested in pop-up art, furniture design, or urban design this project may be for you.
Hey New York!
Don't forget to join us tomorrow for our Happy Hour and Gallery Event at Bentley Prince Street's NY showroom. We are featuring some amazing projects designed by Pratt Graduate Interior Design students.
Guided by professor and Architecture for Humanity Community Builder, Yutaka Takiura, the students have worked over the past semester to develop viable design solutions to improve living conditions for transitional housing residents who lost their homes to Japan's 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami.

Our Happy Hour event on February 16 was one of our most successful to date! The winning design was announced and we immediately began receiving orders for the commemorative t-shirts. The design was created by Jennifer Dunn.
For anyone who missed the event or would like to order a shirt, please email loveafhny@afhny.org with your desired (adult) size. Shirts will be $16.
Many thanks to FENWICK KEATS and all our supporters for helping us make this happen.
The Architectural League of New York has two great upcoming events of interest to Architecture for Humanity NY.
First, Francis Kere, who has won the Aga Khan and a Holcim Award and was in the Small Scale, Big Change exhibition at MoMA, is speaking on February 9, 2012.

You can sponsor specific needs of our chapter, including projects, monthly Chapter Meetings, or our general operations. We can include credit for you or your business to acknowledge your support.
