Director of Outreach & Advocacy

Current Director: Rachel Starobinsky

The Director of Outreach and Advocacy seeks out and acquires any

information that might benefit the organization.

The Director of Outreach and Advocacy’s responsibilities includes:

  • seeking out and fostering external relationships with potential clients, partners, sponsors, beneficiaries, supporters, and volunteers.
  • seeking out strategic community involvement such as Open House New York weekend.
  • seeking out appropriate means for the organization to have public presence.
  • attends external events to advocate the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • managing the educational initiatives of the organization as a means of advocacy.
  • assisting headquarters by facilitating volunteers seeking to assist with international reconstruction efforts.
  • assisting the director of projects and project teams in acquiring information and resources that would benefit the projects, including sustainable design efforts.
  • assisting the events coordinator in securing venues, generating themes, securing speakers, and overlooking logistics of planning.
  • assisting the director of communications in marketing,outreach, and creating a public presence and awareness online and in person.
  • seeking out and compiling any and all knowledge that may be helpful to the organization, it's members, and project teams, and beneficiaries. This could include, but is not limited to: grants, city and state agencies, new york city based non-profitswho can either be served by AFHny or who can complement Architecture for Humanity New York's services and mission, local architectural regulations, potential partners, potential donors, food and beverage, construction materials, print services, etc.
  • assisting the director of records in compiling any and all research into a cohesive whole that is accessible and can be used to promote the organization.
